See the history of clothing worn in the mid to late19th century, following fashions from the sewing machine to ready-made clothing that came through the mail order catalog. Learn how politics, society and etiquette influenced why people dressed the way they did. Period clothing is featured, allowing guests to see a slat bonnet and to feel how stiff corset boning really was. This program is presented by a fashionably dressed woman of 1860, reflecting the era of Minnesota statehood and one of the most recognizable fashion periods of American history.
This free program is offered in partnership with Anoka County Historical Society and is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Call 763-576-4695 for more information.
